Eco Dishwasher Detergent By Palmolive

Ever wondered about what is really going on with that detergent you’re using in your dishwasher? The average dishwasher detergent has phosphate in it, which can harm lakes and streams, which isn’t exactly a great thing. The good news, though, is that Palmolive puts out a dishwasher detergent that is free of phosphate. This semi-new product is called Palmolive Eco+. It is available in 3 different scents; Lemon Splash, Citrus Apple Splash, and Lavender Splash.

Palmolive Eco+ can generally be found at Walmart. However, check around your local grocery and drug stores to see if it is available in your area. If it isn’t available then try talking to a store manager to see if they can make it become available in their store.

Palmolive Eco+ is not only great in the fact that it does not have any phosphate in it but that it is also affordable to a certain degree. Currently Palmolive Eco+ is within the middle range of dishwasher detergents as far as prices go. Check out Palmolive’s website for more information on their Eco+ detergent.

So, if you really want to help out the environment in some way without having to go out of your way then it is quite possible that Palmolive Eco+ might just be the thing for you. However, please do not get discouraged if you can’t afford Palmolive Eco+. There are all sorts of ways to help out the environment. We just have to all work together to figure out how to go about doing that.

  1. I had a chance to try Palmolive eco+ gel for myself. I agree that it’s nice to have a moderately priced, phosphate-free dishwashing gel option.

  2. I bought the Palmolive eco at Target and was very excited to see. I am pretty disappointed in it though. Every dish (except the plates) had food and/or residue, seemed like a waste.

  3. Have you tried rinsing off the food from dishes before slipping them into the dishwasher? Personally, I find that a lot of dish detergents (both inexpensive and expensive) don’t get food off of dishes real well. it’s best to rinse dishes before hand just to get the extra gunk off.

  4. Denise is right. I have been struggling for weeks with gross, filmy dishes. I thought it was the dishwasher, so I was rinsing them near to completely clean…still yuck & residue. I’m going back to Cascade – plus, I think we’re all finding out that this is not an “eco” friendly product at all with the bleach.

  5. I recently bought a new home and bought the lemon echo. At first I thought that our dishwasher had issues as the utensils were covered in baked on soap. I felt very jipped by our home inspector because I thought he would have caught a faulty dishwasher. At any rate we found a few issues with the old dishwasher and decided to upgrade. Now that I have a new dishwasher the soap is still being left behind and baked to all of my utensils. Not as bad but I still have residue on everything. I have tried limiting the amount of dish detergent and I always scrub my plates and utensils before I run a load. No matter what I do I still have an issue. Now I am starting to think that I wasted money on a new dish wahser because it was the detergent all along. I am going to go back to my origianl dish detergent and I will let you know the outcome. At this point I am very unthrilled with the product. Althought my new dishwasher is very quiet! Today I ran a load and found my utensils and other items covered in the echo soap so I decided to run a load with no soap and when I opened the door to check things out mid cycle the floor of the dishwasher was covered in residual soap left behind in the first cleaning.

  6. I agree the science needs to be improved for eco friendly dishwashing detergents, even though I still use them. I’ve found that adding distilled white vinegar to the rinse aid dispenser works really well at getting rid of any soapy film.

  7. i agree with christy. i loved the eco at first, then after about 3 washes it had a filmy residue on it. mainly because this detergent does not have a build in rinse aid like cascade and/or jet dry. good thing too, because commercial rinse aids are horrible, and rank about a moderate health risk. they don’t post the ingredients found in it.
i put plain distilled vinegar in the rinse aid compartment. cut the residue, and as an added plus, it rinsed my dishes clean and i do not have to use the heated dry option…
