Pet Mess Cleanup

Happy Late Halloween to everyone! I hope that everyone’s Halloween was great yesterday. Mine went well, apart from the fact that there really weren’t any trick-or-treaters knocking on the door. Nonetheless I’m back to offer you more great tips and advice on living a more green lifestyle without frowning due to an empty pocket book!

Alright, a lot of people have pets, in fact most of us have at the very least one pet. With that being said, most people also have either a dog or a cat as a pet. Along with caring for cats and dogs, feeding them, walking them, bathing them, loving them, etc. also comes those horrible accidents when a cat or dog vomits or urinates on the carpet. Once this happens they also seem to mark it as their “spot” for coming back to later on, only followed by urinating there again. This has happened to so many cat and dog owners that I couldn’t even count how many people it has happened to if I used all of my fingers and toes. So, for those of you out there who think you are alone, trust me when I say that you aren’t.

A simple solution to this little problem is to somehow get rid of the cat or dog’s “spot” without them realizing it. The good news is that it can be done in an environmentally friendly way. All you have to do is clean up the biggest part of the mess like you normally would. Once you do that then you can sprinkle that same area with baking soda. Allow the baking soda to sit over night and then vacuum it up in the morning. Next, mix two cups of white distilled vinegar and one gallon of water. Clean the area again, except this time use the vinegar and water solution, followed by rinsing it with water. If the vinegar’s oder is strong don’t worry. The oder typically goes away within a few hours or so. That’s it! Now you can rest with a peace of mind and a clean “spot” on the carpet.

Also, though this is optional, I recommend you spray the room that the “spot” was in later on with air freshener. I would suggest using Febreeze Air Freshener or your favorite air freshener. Again, this is completely optional.
