Technology is rising higher and higher with cell phones, and people who enjoy all the fun gadgets that a cell phone can have are constantly buying new cell phones to continuously keep up to date with things. The bad news about that is that there are over 500 million unused cell phones in landfills as we speak. What makes matters worse is that now as the years go on there will be over 100 million cell phones in landfills per year.
So, how do we attempt to put a stop to this or at least try to lower the amount of cell phones that end up in landfills? You can donate, trade, or even recycle your old cell phones. If you want to donate your old cell phone(s) you can take a look at the Wireless Foundation website. You can also trade in your cell phone(s) through Rip Mobile. Whenever you trade in your cellphone(s) with them you get gift certificates in exchange, but you have to send in the battery, charger, etc. along with your phone as well. Paw’s Place collects old cell phones and sells them to recyclers. They use the money to buy dog food for no-kill animal shelter(s). They are a non-profit domestic animal rescue. Visit their website for details.
So, if you’ve got one old cellphone or more sitting around collecting dust, think about recycling, donating, or trading it in for gift certificates.
Great post! There is also http://recyclemycellphone.org/ that will recycle your phone and/or help you set up a recycling drive in your community.
